Tenderness

A young whitetail fawn shares an intimate moment with its mother. These deer are local to me and on this day, I had spent a couple hours with this pair who were hanging out with another mother and two newborn fawns. The moment you see here was shortly after the two families parted ways. Mom was giving her little one a little cleaning with a tongue bath. It is very cute to watch a mother deer clean the face of her little ones, much like human babies getting their faces wiped clean, they often have funny looking expressions of dislike for having their face wiped clean.
