In the Inuit language the word Pihoqahiak means the ever-wandering one. Polar bears, for the most part live a solitary and nomadic life. They can cover great distances in their lifetime. The bear pictured here was traversing across the rocky shoreline of Western Hudson Bay, just outside of the town of Churchill, Manitoba. The stark contrast between the bear and the dark rock made for a very pleasing scene.
