What you are looking at is a slow shutter pan of the Arctic Ocean during twilight. To achieve this lateral line look, I knock down the camera’s shutter speed to just 1/15th of a second and by panning the camera left to right at a fast rate of speed. The lines you see here are the patterns of the swell and clouds in the sky above the horizon. This technique allows you to turn a potentially ordinary scene into a unique looking piece of abstract art.
